Our Vision

The vision of Christ Memorial Church (CMC) is to see God display His power by saving sinners through the proclamation of the gospel by all of its members to His eternal glory. (1 Corinthans 2:1-5)

How do we pursue this vision?

  • From its inception in 1992, Christ Memorial Church has sought to be a reproducing, gospel-driven church.  Since that time CMC has actively ministered the gospel to the greater Burlington area and its colleges.

  • Christ Memorial Church is planting more reproducing, gospel-driven churches in strategic locations; particularly (though not exclusively) in New England.  Christ Redeemer Church (2000) in Hanover, NH, was our first New England church plant.  Redeeming Grace Church, launched Easter 2005, is our first local daughter church.  Our first international church plant, in Bamenda, Cameroon, launched in February 2005.

  • Christ Memorial Church works with NETS Institute for Church Planting (NETS) to establish and support these churches.  Founded in 2000 by CMC Senior Minister Rev. Wes Pastor, NETS is a dedicated church-planting ministry.  NETS equips seminary graduates and their spouses, and established pastors, to plant gospel-driven churches in New England and abroad.

How do we minister the gospel?

  • We proclaim the gospel of Christ in all contexts, to both believers and unbelievers.
  • We proclaim the gospel of Christ from all of scripture, since the entire Bible speaks of Christ.
  • We shepherd people so that each member contributes to building up the entire body.
  • We seek to keep the gospel and its proclamation our primary focus.  We help one another to practice biblical forbearance in all areas neither addressed nor mandated by Scripture.
  • We love one another in a way that points to Christ's love for the church, and that demonstrates to the world the reality of our faith.
  • We teach the scriptures so that the mind and the heart are instructed and moved to more deeply love, adore, and obey the Lord Jesus Christ.

And when I came to you, brethren, I did not come with superiority of speech or of wisdom, proclaiming to you the testimony of God.

For I determined to know nothing among you except Jesus Christ, and Him crucified.

And I was with you in weakness and in fear and in much trembling.

And my message and my preaching were not in persuasive words of wisdom, but in demonstration of the Spirit and of power, that your faith should not rest on the wisdom of men, but on the power of God.

    I Corinthians 2:1-5
